Longmont sits where Boulder County's older neighborhoods meet wide-open plains, and that exposure matters for your fence. Wind and hail come hard across 80501 with little tree canopy to break the force, and older housing stock often has fences that take the brunt of it.

Denver Fence Contractors has been serving Longmont and the surrounding Denver area since 2013. When a storm brings down a fence run, or when rot and weather have a gate dragging off its hinges, we show up with crews who know the work and crews who are fully insured. We repair what can be repaired and replace what needs replacing, and we tell you which is which.

Fence Work in Longmont (80501)

The single-family housing stock in Longmont runs the gamut: older brick and frame homes near downtown, newer vinyl-sided builds on the plains edges, and plenty of properties where the fence line is the first thing weather hits. We install and repair wood privacy fence, vinyl and PVC, chain link, aluminum and ornamental iron, and gates of every kind. We also handle pool barrier fencing installed to meet local code, farm and ranch fencing, and storm damage assessment and repair.

Our team has been working in Longmont and the Denver area for over a decade. We are members of the American Fence Association, fully insured with general liability and workers' compensation coverage, and we work from your existing survey or the fence line you identify. Every job starts with a site visit and a straight answer about what the fence needs.

How a Fence Job Works in Longmont

Step 1: Call us at (720) 573-2902 or contact us online for a free on-site assessment. We come out, look at the fence or the gate, listen to what you need, and walk the property line with you. If there is storm damage, we document what we see and help you understand what happened and what it will cost to put right.

Step 2: We handle the work. Before we dig any post holes, Colorado law requires a Colorado 811 utility locate call to mark underground lines. We set posts in concrete or tamped earth depending on the job, install rails and pickets or panels at the right spacing, and build gates with hardware that works. If you have an HOA, we coordinate with them on height, material, and color. If a permit is required in your jurisdiction, we pull it. If repair will hold the fence for years to come, we say so. If replacement is the better spend, we say that too.

Step 3: We clean up the job site and walk through the finished work with you. Your property is left clean, and the fence is ready to work.

Wood privacy fence in Longmont typically runs from $32 per linear foot for pressure-treated pine up to higher costs for cedar or custom board-on-board layouts. Vinyl and PVC fencing starts at $44 per linear foot. Chain link is the most affordable option at $19 per linear foot, while aluminum and ornamental iron run $48 per linear foot or more depending on the design. Repairs start at $475, fence post replacement or repair from $475, and gate installation or repair from $525. Storm damage assessment is free. Automatic driveway gates start at $3,200 and require a site quote. Cost depends on fence length, material choice, site access, whether posts need to be set in concrete, and whether the job involves repair or full replacement. Call us at (720) 573-2902 for a free estimate tailored to your property and your budget.

My fence is leaning pretty far. Is it worth fixing, or do I need to replace the whole run?
A fence that leans is usually fixable if the posts are still sound and the rot has not gone deep. We assess the post condition at ground line, check whether the rails are still straight, and look at gate hardware and anti-sag bracing. If the posts are solid and the lean is from loose concrete or settled soil, we can reset posts, straighten the run, and brace it. If the posts are rotted at the base or the damage is too far gone, replacement is the better spend. We tell you which way it goes.
A storm brought down a section of my fence. What do I do?
Call us right away at (720) 573-2902. We come out and document the damage, take photos, and assess what happened and what it will cost to rebuild. We can help you organize the damage information for your insurance claim. We then repair or replace the fence section depending on what the damage shows. Storm damage repair starts at $475 for post replacement or $2,700 for full section replacement, depending on the material and the scope.
What is the difference between a fence set in concrete and one that is tamped?
Posts set in concrete are anchored in a concrete footer poured around the base of the post. Concrete-set posts are more stable in loose or sandy soil and hold better against wind and frost heave. Tamped posts are set in the ground and the soil is compacted around them, which works well in stable clay or loam and is faster and less costly. We assess your soil and site conditions and recommend the method that will hold best for your fence type and your location.
Does Longmont require a permit for a new fence?
Longmont and surrounding jurisdictions have different rules. Fence height, setback from the property line, and corner-visibility requirements are set by the city or county. Deed restrictions and HOA architectural standards often govern material and color in master-planned communities. We check with the Longmont building department for you and pull any required permit. Call us at (720) 573-2902 and we will tell you what applies to your address.
My HOA says my fence height or color does not meet their rules. What are my options?
HOA rules vary from community to community and are binding. We work with your HOA to coordinate material, height, and color before we build. If your existing fence does not meet the rules, you can request a variance from the HOA, or we can rebuild it to meet their standard. We handle the coordination and make sure the new fence complies.
Are you fully insured for fence work?
Yes. We carry general liability and workers' compensation insurance and can provide a certificate of insurance on request. Every crew member is covered, and your property is protected during the work.
I want to install a pool fence. What do I need to know?
Pool fencing is installed to meet local pool barrier codes set by Colorado law and local ordinance. We build the fence to code, but final determination of compliance rests with the authority having jurisdiction in your city or county. Pool barrier fencing starts at $39 per linear foot. Call us at (720) 573-2902 for a free site quote and we will walk you through the requirements for your property.
